Boots DermaCare Scar
Treatment Gel is a
specialised medical device that improves the appearance of healed scars after burns, injuries, caesarean section & other surgical procedures.
Silicones are recommended as the first line of treatment for the treatment of scars.
The gel forms a barrier over the scar area, protecting it from rubbing and further irritation. By massaging the gel into the skin, the moisturising effect gets to work softening the scar tissue, helping to reduce itching, tightness & visibility of the scar over time.
How to use
Before using the product, read the
instructions for use, as it contains important
information for the patient on the use of the product.
1. Apply the product on the scar after the wound has healed completely and the scab has fallen off.
2. Apply a small amount of the gel to a clean, dry scar.
3. The gel should be applied starting at the centre of the scar and working towards its edge.
4. Massage the scar with circular movements.
5. Apply as much as required to cover the scar, but do not exceed more than 4 times a day.
Hazards and Cautions
Do not use if you are allergic to the ingredients contained in the medical device. If irritation develops, discontinue use immediately.
Avoid contact with the eyes. If the product does get into the eyes, immediately rinse with water. Do not use on damaged skin or unhealed wounds.
The use of silicone gel can cause an MRI artifact to appear and be confused with a metallic foreign body.
This warning should be given to MRI professionals.
Storage:
Store the product in its original packaging. Store at room temperature, i.e. 5-30°C. Store in a cool, dry place
Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Do not use the product if the immediate packaging is damagea oefore first opening. Do not use after the expiry date stated on the package.
